Wow - MUCH to take in here. This is some of my favorite stuff among your vocabulary - many layers & textures of sound, abrupt changes, yet incorporating a nice flow.

Gotta love the "shower scene." Brilliant - right up there with the squeaking balloon solo from Jennifer Gentle's 'I Do Dream You.'

Interesting that you used acoustic guitars where I would expect to hear the fat fuzzy electrics.

Atmospherically, this makes me think of what futurist visionaries of the early 20th century predicted music of the future would sound like. Very "Metropolis" or "Futurama."

By the way - who caught you singing in the shower?

Hi,

Booyah!

"ballyhooed"... "Mother must never know 'bout KISS cards in the mattress". :)

Great track Shawn. All kinds of things in there that I'm likely to comment on later.

This is the kind of song yours that I love. Lots of layers and odd things happing. I like that there are acoustic guitars, kind of atmospheric synth sounds, and strings all happening at the same.

I dig this one alot.

Yes, yes, yes...and yes! The kind of lyrics of your's the I really like, cool solo, unexptected twists 'n turns...and it's longer than a minute. The fact that I'm on vacation this week is just icing on this aural cake. I like it a lot.

As an aside, I was introduced to a new bourbon the other day, Elijah Craig, that I can't recommend enough. Mixed just right with ginger ale...yummy. The chicken heart/jell-o line almost got it all over my monitor.

Rock on!

Hi,

I'm really digging this one, a lot! It has a very unique sound and feel to it, and yet, still familiar in some way. But I can't seem to put my finger on what it is exactly.

The "shower scene" is great. About as much of a peek behind the scenes as is appropriate I'm thinking, for this song anyway. Video footage unnecessary. :)

Was that an accident or were you purposefully recording yourself, perhaps to help remember ideas or melodies or... what's the story there? Was that the plan all along?

This just became one of my favorite Yogi songs, let alone fitty2fawty songs. To be fair, this is the first song of yours I've heard on my big bad new speakers which make everything sound like a musical epiphany. This song actually brings them to life! So my enjoyment may be coloured by the wicked sound quality and badass bass... but right now I think the riff rocks, there's unexpected changes that make you go oooh, there's new stuff to notice on each repeated listen... this is my kinda shiznit!

RE: "shower scene" - that was an idea I've been thinking about for a while. I get SO MANY ideas while standing in the shower... thinking... that I thought it would be cool to actually incorporate it in a song someday. So it's not a "captured moment", it was something that I did deliberately.

Fair enough. It works well, and for me, is another one of those (in this case, kind of silly) things that adds to the ever-present authenticity and emotional tangibility and of this project.

Have to get used to the distorted background, but that's all the 'negativity' this week. Great song. Somehow it so You that it feels like I already knew this one. Especially the synth lines at the end.

I'm glad the words are ment to be opaque, because I really really don´t know what you´re singing about.

Did you ever notice that you can make really interesting drum sounds with your feet in the shower? Well, in mine anyway, it's plastic with a big cavity underneath it (and our sitting room - so no neighbours there). Just a suggestion.

Hi,

"Have to get used to the distorted background, but that's all the 'negativity' this week."

Interesting, I really like the distorted background. It takes the opening riff and tweaks it from being potentially (and please forgive me for this) Dave Matthews-y in a way (and by no means am I suggesting that the song reminds me of D.M., gawd no), gives it that edge it needs to "fit in" with the vibe of the rest of the song... to me. :)

"Somehow it so You that it feels like I already knew this one."

Exactly. That must be the "still familiar" aspect I mentioned previously. It's neat to see that someone else felt the same way.

The floor in the elevator at my office is a GREAT bass drum... the keys in my pocket are the hi-hat, and various parts of my torso sever as the snare.

Serve, sever, whichever.

The drums and bass line during the verses reminded me of The Art Of Noise, who had a couple of hits in the late 80's/early 90's.

Nice.

This song takes all kinds of elements of the 80's and wraps them around each other.

Living Color and Steve Vai meet 80's pop and stop to wash their hair.

While I like this song...I would rather not think of my brother in the shower.

I am listening to this more closely now that I'm playing all of 5240 back, and this one and "Elephantine" are standing out more than they did the first time I heard them. I love the funky bass riff that weaves thru the song. The melody reminds me a bit of "I always feel like somebody's watching me".
